Branch Church

It was known from historical records that around 60 Christians were living here in the beginning of the eighteenth century, and worships were taking place in the ancient cross on the west side of the present church.

The present temple was enlarged during the reign of Rev. R. Anthonymuthu Adikalar. The cross at the front of the temple was renovated by B.J.R Alexander Adigar. The altar has been renovated and the Sunday mass is being conducted through the efforts of Rev. A. Josephraj. This helped in the spiritual revival of the people of this place.

This area was called Thatanvilai and was under the rule of Mulagumudu. Since 1958 Sister Josaphat of Mulagumudu Kanniya Math was teaching the secret language on a thatched set.

The foundation stone was laid by S. T. Mathias, the Mulakumudu parishioner of that day, to build a temple in the name of Saint Arulanandar, and mass was held every week. In the foundation of this temple, a wedding brought from Oriyuri, the shrine where Saint Arulananda was killed.
With the efforts of the village elders, donations from many people and the help of the bishop, the work of the temple was completed and it was consecrated by the bishop of the day Priest T. R. Anjisamy S. J. D. D. Later named as Arulanandhapuram, the area is being converted into a branch of Mathiravilai Parish Rev. A. Josepraj has renovated the part of the temple.
